Domenico Cima

Domenico's journey began at his hometown's concert band. In 2017 he entered the Euphonium and Tuba class at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome, where he earned his Bachelor's degree with top marks in 2020 and his Master's degree with 110/110 cum laude in 2022.

During his studies he took part in numerous masterclasses with some of the most important euphonium players on the international scene — including Matteo Caramaschi, Luciano De Luca, Steven Mead, Bastien Baumet and Mauro Martins — and he still collaborates with Luciano De Luca's Italian Euphonium Academy.

From 2021 to 2025 he was principal Baritone Horn of the Italian Brass Band, with which he also performed as a soloist under Maestros Filippo Cangiamila and Giuseppe Saggio. In May 2022 he was selected for the European Youth Brass Band at the 44th European Brass Band Championship in Birmingham, conducted by M° Florient Didier; that August he recorded Mahler's Symphony No. 7 with the Milan Symphony Orchestra under Claus Peter Flor, in the role of soloist tenorhorn.

Since 2 October 2023 he has been a member of the Italian Army Band, performing in several Italian and international theaters. In March 2025 he performed at the Spring Music Festival on Jeju Island, South Korea, and that same year placed third at the AETYB Euphonium competition in Spain. He regularly performs as a soloist with the Italian Army Band and with major musical organizations throughout Italy.

Among his awards: in 2021 he won the 22nd edition of the Wings to Talent Prize, in 2023 the Premio Crescendo, and in August 2024 the prestigious Jeju International Brass and Percussion Competition — the first Italian euphonium player to reach this achievement. In 2025 he placed third at the AETYB's International Tuba and Euphonium Competition in Valencia.

In 2023 he won the audition for 2nd Baritone Horn with the Italian Army Band, of which he has been a member since 2 October of that year.

He is also one of the three founding members of EuphoniumItaly, together with Giuliano Cerbarano and Andrea Palmarin, and alongside his orchestral and solo work he leads the chamber-music project Ostrakon Duo, together with saxophonist Alessandro Scalone.

He has been a Besson and Randefalk artist since 2025. He plays a Besson Prestige 2052 euphonium and a Besson Sovereign 955 baritone horn.
